What is it about?

This study looks at what factors might help or hinder families and professionals in using eHealth services for children with hearing loss. The researchers used the COM-B model, which focuses on three areas: capability (e.g., computer skills), opportunity (e.g., access to the internet), and motivation (e.g., confidence in using technology). The study found that while eHealth services could be very helpful, certain barriers such as lack of technology access, negative beliefs about eHealth, and preference for face-to-face services need to be addressed before they can be successfully used.

Why is it important?

This study is important because it helps us understand the factors that influence the adoption of eHealth services, which could provide better support for families of children with hearing loss. By identifying barriers such as access to technology and cultural preferences for in-person communication, the study suggests ways to make eHealth services more effective. Addressing these barriers before rolling out eHealth interventions can help ensure that they are used successfully, providing better early hearing support to families and improving outcomes for children with hearing loss.
