What is it about?
Dendrochronology, the dating and provenancing of wood from archaeological excavations and old buildings and artwork, used to require cutting or drilling into the wood. The article describes a method that has proven usefull for making dendrochronology without damaging the objects being investigated.

Why is it important?
The DendroCT method makes it possible to make as many virtual sections in your object or objects as you want, without any damage at all - earlier the number of cuts and objects investigsted was small, because of the damage.
