What is it about?

This study highlights the comparison between the behavior of normal concrete specimen and ECC specimen in the joint zone in terms of flexural capacity, shear capacity, joint rotation, and energy dissipation capacity of the joint.

Why is it important?

Using ECC in the beam-column joints led to: 1.Mitigate the congestion/ or, eleminate the steel bars within the joint zone. 2. Improve the shear and flexural strength. 3. increase the damage tolerance, toughness , deformation capacity and energy absorption capacity.

Perspectives

I am so glad to publish this paper which is a small part of my project in doctoral assignment. It is a good opportunity to show the great importance of application of engineered cementitious composite (ECC) material in structural members, particularly, in beam-column joints.
