What is it about?
When light interacts with a material, the light can be absorbed, transmitted, reflected, or modified. Materials that double or triple the frequency of incident light, also called nonlinear optical materials, have applications in optical technologies such as optical storage and communication fields. We synthesized two of such materials and tested their optical behaviour using experimental and computational methods. Indeed, the two materials displayed nonlinear optical response. The materials are called 3-(((2-substituted-4-nitrophenyl)imino)methyl)phenols.
