What is it about?

The high-pressure theory correctly applies well to geophysical mineral data. The derived equation of state has been exploited to formulate the expression for pressure-dependent elastic moduli. The developed expressions have been further used to investigate the pressure dependence elastic properties of some prototype solids viz. MgO, CaO, NaCl, and KCl.

Why is it important?

The computed results using the present model agree well with the available experimental results.

Perspectives

The new expressions show that they are capable of predicting the elastic properties of Earth's minerals under extreme conditions of pressure. So, our study has a crucial significance in the field of geophysical applications.
