What is it about?
Sometimes the chemical and genetic composition of a plant species match, but other times they don't. We compared both characteristics in Mexican populations of the weed Mikania micrantha and found that each marker provides complementary, rather than redundant, information.

Why is it important?
Our results underscore the importance of analyzing both characteristics when searching for potential biological control agents of invasive weeds in the native distribution.
