What is it about?
Various metabolic engineering and system/synthetic biological approaches used to produce various flavonoids derivatives are discussed broadly.

Why is it important?
All the manipulations/engineering accomplished on the microorganisms since 2000 to 2015 are described in detail along with biosynthetic pathway enzymes, their sources, structures and yields of flavonoids and their derivatives. Post-modifications of flavonoids by glycosylation , methylation , hydroxylation and prenylations using recombinant strains are discussed.
