Why is it important?

This article describes for the first time a magnet system for increased cell retention that can be readily scaled for use in man and importantly that the improved cell retention leads to reduced restenosis after arterial injury. This achievement represents a major step forward, as to date there has been no demonstration of the possibility to translate magnetic targeting or that cell retention leads to functional improvement.
