Why is it important?

Biogenic silica based bioactive glasses were successfully prepared by melt quenching technique. The effect of magnesium and aluminium incorporation on in vitro bioactivity of glasses were investigated.

Perspectives

The biogenic silica seems to be a promising starting material for bioglass systems to be used in bone tissue engineering applications.
