What is it about?

Imaging Air Cherenkov Telescopes like MAGIC used to be mainly operated in dark nights only, meaning that when the moon was up on the sky, no data was taken. How does the moon affect our data? The moon increases the night sky back ground (NSB in the figure) and you can see in the figure how this affects on our energy threshold. We made a very detailed study on this and other effects, which you can now find in: http://arxiv.org/abs/1704.00906

Why is it important?

Nowadays, we take lot of data in the presence of moon and can even observe during the full moon.
