What is it about?
The most stable structure of unzipped graphene oxide monolayer is found by considering different dipole alignments. Also the O injection in grpaphene provides electron excessive and electron deficient regions to enable it for Li adsorption.

Why is it important?
Graphene itself is not a good material for Li storage because of its low binding energy for Li but with the O injection along the zigzag direction it can be made a good anode material for rechargeable Li ion batteries.
