How to easily write patterns in oxide thin films

What is it about?

A thin film of spinel ferrite is irradiated by the laser beam of a photolitographic machine. The laser spot modifies the irradiated regions in such a manner that bumps or holes appears. The crystallisation and the oxidation states are also modified in the irradiated regions.

Why is it important?

A way to prepare magnonic or magneto-photonic crystals.
