What is it about?

In this study, some students were invited to select a learning task to undertake from a bank of tasks (autonomous choice). Other students were encouraged to choose a particular learning task from the bank (controlled choice). Students who were provided with choice ate fewer jellybeans, which were provided as a snack to consume during the learning task. Also, students in the choice condition learned more of the study material than those in the controlled choice condition.
