What is it about?

We present a new model for generating spatiotemporal power demand data for urban areas of the form P(x, y, t). Spatial (x,y) and temporal (time) load profiles are extremely useful for studying integration of distributed renewable power generation. The paper shows how such profiles could be generated from quite easily available data.

Perspectives

Normally load profiles are just available as time series for a certain location. Here we took a step forward how to easily include a spatial dimension as well. This gives a power load map with a user-defined resolution. We have applied this to several renewable energy integration studies worldwide and found it very useful.
