What is it about?

Why is it important?

Securing airway may be difficult in unskilled rescuers, especially EMTs. For them, it would be a very important issue to suggest a better way to secure airway safe and quickly. This study compared four commonly used airway devices and presented the results that I-GEL was the fastest, followed by LMA, PENTAX airway scope, Macintosh larygoscope, regardless of whether airway scenario was normal or difficult. On the other hand, there was no difference in the airway success rate among four four airway devices, all of which showed 100%.

Perspectives

Since I-GEL is the fastest and safe tool to secure airway, I think unskilled rescuers, especially EMTs, should use I-GEL first.
