Why is it important?

We as therapists are always searching for therapeutic methods and new techniques that lead us to further success with our clients. Also as parents and caregivers look everywhere for something practical to aid us with our care for the people we care for. Researchers may find this paper helpful to use for further research papers and projects. It offers reliable tools that have proven to work even with the most difficult individuals. The secret in this treatment is not in directly confronting the maladaptive behavior, it is in working softly with the underlying motivations of whatever devious/maladaptive behaviors. It gives the individuals a new way of expressing one's self where it is difficult to find words or skillful social behaviors. It is a way of unique self-expression.

Perspectives

This paper is about working in a unique setting and with unique individuals. I consider my self very lucky to actually have had an impact upon such individuals who at one time or another really thought about or did something (terrible). I was able to redirect their intentions by simply allowing them a new way of expressing their feelings in a safe and sophisticated way: Art is a safe way of self expression.
