What is it about?

Four focus groups explored two factors that influence the fear of old age: parenthood and religious belief. The findings show that strong religious convictions, (Christian or atheist) mitigate the fear of old age and that parents experience more fear of old age than those without children.

The fear of old age casts a shadow over peoples' lives. More awareness of the factors that contribute to the fear of old age can contribute to strategies that can help people face their future old age with less fear.
