What is it about?

The effects of acrylamide on the respiratory system cells have yet to be well understood. So far, no in vitro study has examined the effect of acrylamide on normal lung cells with a broader perspective.

Why is it important?

Due to the broad toxic relevance of acrylamide, many measures have been taken since the 1900s. These measures increased day by day when acrylamide was discovered in foods in 2002, and its toxic spectrum was found to be wider than expected. Therefore, in some countries, the products with higher acrylamide content were restricted.

Perspectives

We expose acrylamide unintentionally and indispensably by daily foods and other industrial products even by passive smoking. It has been widely investigated in the nervous and reproductive system, mostly as in vivo. However, we know less thing about its impact on the respiratory system. That is why we wanted to orchestrate the present study.
