What is it about?

The ultramicroporous alumosilicate adsorbents also known as zeolites have extraordinary affinity to the water and this property was realised for the development of very selectivy HPLC detemination of water at trace level in organic solvents. There is no retention of any neutral molecules except water on the column packed with faujasite with methanol as an eluent.

Why is it important?

The method has significant advantages over Karl Fisher titration method commonly used for the determination of water.

Perspectives

A further investigation will be focused on broder area of application for the developed method.
