Why is it important?

It used to be thought that NADP+ GDHs and 'dual' GDHs were evolutionarily closely related and NAD+ GDHs much more distantly so. Emerging sequences blew this idea out of the water. Journals held up publication of this conceptual shift for several years until it could be hung (in this paper) on a 3D structural framework.
