What is it about?
Traditional healers and ethnoveterinary therapists treat endoparasite infections with therapeutic plants such as Rumex crispus L. Researchers have found R. crispus to be effective against a few parasitic worms. The potency of R. crispus extracts on the model organism Caenorhabditis elegans was assessed in this work, and the bioactive components of the extracts were discovered. R. crispus solvent extracts were tested against C. elegans for up to 72 hours. Light microscopy (LM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) were used to assess the extracts' effect on C. elegans (SEM).

Why is it important?
Using standardised C. elegans models as a tool, R. crispus has anthelmintic potential, implying that there may be unique chemicals yet to be investigated in the researched plant that could be of significant use.
