What is it about?
Cesium fluoride forms ion pair in tert-butanol solution. The reaction of fluorination of alkyl halides proceed with participation of both the solvent and the cesium ion.

Why is it important?
This study shows that the ion pair can be the reactive species. In protic solvent like tert-butanol, the counter ion is important to induce the reaction.
Perspectives
This study has implications in supramolecular catalysis and solvent engineering.
