What is the risk of mold growth in my building? DR SIM - a simple yet accurate mold growth model can help assess that risk in wood-based building assemblies. Optimized using published laboratory results that also informed earlier mold models, DR SIM has improved predictive power and should be useful for real-world predictions.

Why is it important?

Previously existing mold growth models exhibit wide variation in predicted mold growth and often fail to track results in field conditions where there is considerable variation in temperature and humidity conditions. DR SIM is simple to implement and shows promise of ability to more accurately predict results from field studies. Further, DR SIM captures the inherent variability in mold growth using one parameter, which allows more or less conservative predictions which better quantifies the risk of mold growth.
