What is it about?

We reviewed the literature published in the last decade to find out what is known about marginalized young people’s health system navigation, including the role of technology.

Why is it important?

To achieve equity in health outcomes for marginalised youth populations, access to timely, affordable and appropriate health care is a major social determinant of health.

Perspectives

What surprised us about the results was that although we found 68 studies focused on marginalized young people and they came from a range of marginalised groups, they only studied one marginalised group at a time. We concluded that future research should explore the impact of multiple disadvantage and the potential of technologies.
