What is it about?

This new study highlighted that physical HRQoL can be used in combination with clinical information to evaluate incident CVD risk among older people aged 65 years and above.

Why is it important?

This study is the largest to explore the longitudinal association between HRQoL and a range of incident CVD sub-types in community-dwelling older people. Our study provides some of the first evidence that lower physical HRQoL is associated with a high CVD risk in relatively healthy older people.

Perspectives

Given our findings, the physical HRQoL measure may help clinical decision-making for individuals, especially for those who may be approaching the treatment threshold with current risk stratification.
