Why is it important?
This is the first study dedicated to the preparation of chitosan nanofibers embedding copper based nanoparticles. It proves that copper nanoparticle encapsulation significantly improved the mechanical properties of nanofibers and antimicrobial activity.
Perspectives
This study is a pioneering work for chitosan based nanofibers embedding copper nanoparticles which can be further developed to build ecological air filtration systems.
