What is it about?

We explain how the redox properties of iron are modified by its ligands.

Why is it important?

It is not just iron, but also the ligands. Ond should look at the properties of the whole complex before concluding that iron catalyzes a particular reaction.

Perspectives

There were few if any new findings in our paper. The basis of our review is the well-known solution chemistry of iron. However, we may have provided a service by selecting those properties that are important for the readers of Free Radical Biology and Medicine.
