What is it about?

This research examines the role of the shape and geometry of the neighborhoods in creating thermal comfort and, as a result, the resident's satisfaction. We have all had the experience of passing through urban spaces on a summer day. In some streets, we have faced excruciating heat; in other places, we have felt a pleasant coolness. How effective are the shape, geometry, and orientation of buildings in a neighborhood in creating this sense of thermal comfort?

Why is it important?

Knowing the effect of geometry, orientation, and form of buildings on thermal comfort can help reduce energy consumption for cooling and heating buildings. As a result, reducing energy consumption can play an influential role in controlling climate change and global warming.

Perspectives

The development of cities will lead to the development of residents and the increase in energy consumption to meet their needs. In this research, we sought to reduce energy consumption to provide thermal comfort and productivity for residents by strengthening passive solutions in providing thermal comfort. A better understanding of the effect of urban components, such as the orientation and geometry of buildings, helps to develop this path.
