What is it about?

The affect heuristic is a well-known theory of how we conceptualise risk. It has often been applied to cybersecurity but never verified.

Why is it important?

In this paper we examine how affect and risk interact in different areas of cybersecurity. Examining whether perceived risk or perceived benefit are linked to affect helps our understanding of risk perception.

Perspectives

I learned a lot from working on this paper. I primarily contributed to analysis and data visualization. It will be interesting to examine this question in other applied domains.
