Organic chemistry can make molecules that interfere with the binding of cancer-related protein PU.1 to DNA. This approach may ultimately be used to treat a range of cancer types.

Why is it important?
The more approaches we have to fight cancer, the better, and specialized cancer treatments are becoming more important as broad-spectrum chemotherapy agents lose their function in many cases because of resistance building up.
