Our team discovered that mitochondrial DNA mutations accumulate in human aging tissues.

What is it about?

In human liver, muscle and skin tissues, we detected several aging-associated mitochondrial DNA mutations.

Why is it important?

Oxidative stress and damage elicited by metabolism may cause mitochondrial DNA mutations in affected tissues.
