What is it about?

Seeds have developed critical adaptation mechanisms as detoxification of ROS related with accelerated water loss. Our study determined the effect of maturity on physiological and biochemical indicators with the germination and vigour of tobacco seed.

Why is it important?

The results showed that there is a close relationship between antioxidant enzyme activity, especially CAT activity, and seed development. CAT enzyme activity levels suggest that hydrogen peroxide scavenging may be crucial to avoid oxidative stress on the way to the acquisition of desiccation tolerance in tobacco seeds.

Perspectives

We expect with our article the possible collaboration with other teams researching on germination and vigor during seed development.
