What is it about?

"Amen" is used in the Christian tradition with more or less variations from one denomination to another. While traditional Protestant churches seem to divinise this discourse marker, Pentecostal churches seem to de-divinise it for more practical reasons.

Why is it important?

Understanding the various attributes of "Amen" in two religious trends shows how dynamic language is, as well as it hints to the religious battle that is in the pipeline between the so-called "New-born" churches and the traditional churches, which are said to be somehow "dead".

Perspectives

As a Christian, writing this article was a real challenge, given the latent conflict between traditional and Pentecostal churches in Cameroon, which is tearing up families in Cameroon.
