What is it about?
As more electric vehicles (EVs) hit the roads, managing when and how they charge becomes important to avoid overloading the electricity grid and increasing energy costs. In this study, we developed a smart system that helps make better charging decisions using a method called fuzzy logic. This system acts like a guide, choosing the best times to charge EVs based on energy prices, grid load, and user needs. The result is a smoother, more affordable, and more reliable charging process—benefiting both drivers and power providers, and supporting a cleaner energy future.

Why is it important?
What sets this work apart is the integration of a fuzzy logic-based decision support system (DSS) specifically tailored for real-time EV charging optimization within smart grids. Unlike traditional fixed-schedule or rule-based systems, our approach handles uncertainty and changing conditions—like fluctuating electricity prices or unpredictable user behavior—more effectively. With the rapid rise in EV adoption and growing pressure on energy infrastructure, our solution is both timely and practical. It supports the transition to greener transportation while helping energy providers maintain grid stability and reduce peak demand. This innovative approach offers immediate real-world value, making it highly relevant to researchers, industry stakeholders, and policymakers.
Perspectives
From my point of view, this publication reflects my deep interest in developing intelligent, real-world solutions for the challenges posed by the growing adoption of electric vehicles. I was particularly motivated by the need to bridge the gap between user convenience and grid reliability. By applying fuzzy logic to this problem, I aimed to create a system that doesn't just follow rigid rules but adapts intelligently to changing conditions. I believe this approach has the potential to make EV charging smarter, more efficient, and more user-friendly. For me, this work is a step toward a future where sustainable technology seamlessly integrates into our daily lives, supporting both environmental goals and practical energy needs.
