What is it about?

Microscopic derivation of a new set of Kraus operators that generalize the standard ones for the so-called depolarizing noisy quantum channel for a single quantum bit. The starting point is a proper master equation for the channel that is also derived for the first time.

Why is it important?

The Kraus operators for a single quantum bit (qubit) are typically written by hand, i.e. somewhat guessed. However, microscopic picture of the process that is represented by a proper master equation is physically more informative. Hence microscopic derivation of the Kraus operators goes deeper in the sense of the model details and overcomes the above-mentioned "guessing".
