What is it about?

The objective of this investigation is to analyze the mathematical model of Bessel beamformer with automatic gain control (AGC) in a scenario of one desired user and two interferers operating with same carrier frequency but in different direction. Based on simulation results, this modified Bessel beamformer provides optimum solution and can accommodate more users in real time base stations of mobile communication system when implemented on smart antenna array system.

Why is it important?

The aim of this paper is to propose a mathematical model for Bessel beamformer with Automatic Gain Control (AGC) based on the variable step size. This variable step size depends on the signal array vector with the aim to make the signal power constant. This modified Bessel beamformer is used for automatic adjustment of the tap weights of the filter according to the computed error estimation. Therefore, supposed to be known as Bessel beamformer with AGC that yields good performance in the presence of interference.

Perspectives

From the above facts and figures, it is deduced that performance of Modified Bessel beamformer is optimum over that of Bessel beamformer which can increase capacity and quality of mobile communication systems when employ for smart antenna array system.
