What is it about?

This paper examines a unique opposing coil stent design.

Why is it important?

This stent is designed to withstand compression and axial loads from an artery. The design has been shown to be comparable to metal stents thus making it a good candidate for pediatrics and adults.

Perspectives

Polymeric stents have limitations on fabrication to stent sizes larger than 3-5mm diameter. These stents have been fabricated from 3mm to 20mm diameter. This paper only shows up to 6mm diameter and shows that they are scalable to meet the needs of patients needing larger degradable stents.
