Microbes are important in animals as well as human. We have shown for the first time that vaginal microbiome can associate with different phases of the estrous cycle.

Why is it important?

Our findings show that vaginal microbes related to buffalo fertility and knowledge about the vaginal microbiota would contribute to improved management of buffalo reproduction.

Perspectives

The development of new approaches to increase the success of pregnancy and enhance fertility in livestock would result in saving millions of dollars annually to the farmers.
