Why is it important?
This case report describes a unique scenario. However, the lessons learned here can be applied to improve the care for many children undergoing similar operations.. specifically children undergoing solid organ transplantation.
Perspectives
I was personally involved in assisting the surgical team in planning and preparation for the hand transplant. It was an amazing experience and I look forward to seeing how our patient grows with his new hands.
