Higher Income: The paper found that the new seeds also lead to greater income for farmers. On average, improved bush bean growers experienced a 27% increase in income, and improved climbing bean growers saw a 23% increase. Improved Nutrition: The biofortified beans contain higher levels of dietary iron, which can help address micronutrient deficiencies in the population. The study also suggests that the adoption of these beans can improve household nutrition by increasing iron intake and by providing additional income that can be spent on other nutritious foods.
