Why is it important?

Our current food production and distribution systems are unsustainable. They have have failed to eliminate undernutrition, produced an obesity epidemic in many countries, make inefficient use of resources, and are net contributors to climate change. This workshop gathered experts from 6 continents to discuss how to realign food systems to allow them to better meet the needs of people and the planet. The workshop produced a statement of principles and priorities for the development of food systems that are reliable, safe, sustainable and ethical.
