What is it about?

In this foreword the editors present a collection of papers illustrating the geological and geomorphological features of a significant number of Pliocene to Quaternary intermontane basins of the central-southern Apennines. Such basins, not strictly coeval, are the result of a common morphotectonic evolution, albeit with a variable organization of the local structures.

Why is it important?

Availability of papers related to a wide geographic layout of intermontane basins spanning from central to southern segments of the Italian Apennines orogenic chain.

Perspectives

Increase of similar archives of geological and geomorphological data in order to plan an afficient policy of natural risks mitigation.
