Why is it important?

Logistics service may suffer from deterioration of quality during peaks. A penalty and reward contract can ensure the logistics service provider reserves enough capacity for peak times.

Perspectives

This article is out of my PhD research where I studied balancing having too much or not enough capacity or stock. This is the typical conundrum in supply chain and we get better at matching supply with demand using advanced analytics.
