What is it about?

This article outlines the history of my journey as an academic blogger. It explains what my reasoning was when I started blogging just after finishing my PhD, and tracks what kind of content has done well on the blog since it has been running. It also offers some thoughts about the role of blogs in the current era of the internet, in the context of decentralised social media and the rise of AI.

Why is it important?

This article captures my particular experience of academic blogging at a moment where the internet world is rapidly changing, and offers a set of reflections on what academic blogging can still do well in the newest incarnation of the digital environment.

Perspectives

After blogging for over a decade, I enjoyed the chance to step back and reflect on what I've learned and achieved over those years, and to think a bit about how my blogging and my blog-writing has changed and developed.
