What is it about?

A simplified clinical approach to cyanosis in a neonate. This enables pediatricians and the cardiologists taking care of neonates in identifying the underlying cause of cyanosis. An algorithmic approach aids in making the diagnosis of underlying congenital heart disease at the bedside with limited or no use of echocardiography. This approach enables prompt management in resource limited settings.

Why is it important?

A simplified clinical approach to cyanosis in neonate with an emphasis on congenital heart diseases.

Perspectives

Cyanosis in a neonate is almost always pathological and therefore warrants prompt evaluation. Congenital heart disease is the most important and potentially serious etiology that needs evaluation. Stepwise approach simplifies this for the pediatricians as well as the cardiologists.
