What is it about?

We reinvestigated the hexagonal phase which exists in the Pb - Bi system. This is what is called an "intermetallic" phase

Why is it important?

This system in the liquid state is expected to be used in moderns (Generation IV) nuclear reactors and understanding the thermodynamics of the system is important to understand how this liquid will behave in service.

Perspectives

The work allowed us to confirm the existence of the phase and obtain some information which will be useful in the future, for the thermodynamic modeling of the system.
