We present the rationale and outcomes of a decade-long training program for physics teachers (at Boston University) that incorporates the history and philosophy of physics.

Why is it important?

There are few studies on the effect of long-term, broad educational programs on the use of the history and philosophy of science in science education. In particular, this is one of the very studies on how to implement this in teachers' professional development.
