What is it about?

The present study is the first nationwide FAP (Familial Adenomatous Polyposis) cohort being reported in Algeria with molecular analysis of pathogenic variants in the APC gene in 52 unrelated FAP families

Why is it important?

The accumulating knowledge about the prevalence and nature of APC variants in Algerian population will contribute in the near future to the implementation of genetic testing and counseling for FAP patients

Perspectives

We also should include in our future screening the four other polyposis associated genes MUTYH, NHTL1, POLD1 and POLE in order to assess their prevalence in Algerian population
