What is it about?
A criterion and a solution method for the problem on preventing a composite from fracture under the action of a given system of external bending loads are suggested. A closed system of algebraic equations allowing one to derive a solution to the optimum design of a composite according to the geometrical and mechanical characteristics of the binder and inclusions is constructed. The found form of the joint of different materials makes it possible to minimize the fracture parameters (stress intensity factors) and to improve the load-carrying capacity of the composite.
