What is it about?

The probability that a µp atom reaches the 1s state depends on deuterium con- centration. In low concentration of deuterium, the hyperfine transition of dµ(1s) atom is of particular interest. A kinetic model for such processes is given. Our work clearly shows Wolfenstein–Gerstein (W.G.) effect.

Why is it important?

We consider the multilayered solid target H–T/D2/H2–D2 and describe the processes involved in muon catalyzed fusion for estimation of muon cy- cling coefficient, and also checking Wolfenstein–Gerstein (W.G.) effect, by taking into account effects of condensed matter, and the probability that a µp atom reaches the ground state.
